Why Your Support Matters

IPIA is a small organisation doing vital work for the Irish PID community. Everything we do from supporting newly diagnosed patients to advocating for better access to treatment depends on the generosity and dedication of our volunteers and supporters.

Volunteer with IPIA

There are many ways to get involved with IPIA as a volunteer, regardless of your background or skills:

  • Patient peer support – sharing your experience to support others who are newly diagnosed
  • Event support – helping at IPIA events, awareness days, and World PI Week activities
  • Fundraising support – helping to organise or participate in fundraising events
  • Social media and communications – helping to spread awareness online
  • Professional volunteering – if you have skills in healthcare, psychology, communications, law, finance, or IT.
  • Charity Experience – if you have experience working with the Charities Regulator or in charity governance.

We are also looking for volunteers to join our committee and potentially become trustees. This is a rewarding opportunity to help shape the future of PID support in Ireland.

If you would like to get involved in any capacity we would love to hear from you! You can get in touch via:

Fundraising Ideas

Here are some ideas of fundraising. Every little helps!

  • Sponsored walk, run, cycle, or swim
  • Coffee morning or bake sale
  • Workplace fundraising
  • Online fundraising page for a personal challenge
  • Collection at a community or sports events

Raise Awareness

One of the most powerful things you can do is simply talk about PID – with family, friends, colleagues, and on social media. Awareness saves lives by helping people recognise symptoms earlier.

  • Share IPIA and World PI Week content on social media
  • Use the hashtags #WorldPIWeek and #KnowYourPID
  • Tell your story – patient stories can be shared on the IPIA website and social media with your permission.
  • Talk to your GP or practice nurse about PID awareness
